Last week Age Concern New Zealand released their Election Manifesto 2017. New Zealand’s General Election will take place on 23rd September and advance voting has now begun.
The Manifesto describes the context of the ageing population in New Zealand and explains the key challenges currently facing older people. It calls for action to tackle ageism and ageist stereotypes and for support for the development of an international convention to protect the human rights of older people. It also calls for greater action on elder abuse and for high quality health and social care to be made accessible to all older people.
